Installation Instructions for Arai Cheek Pads
Replacing the cheek pads on your Arai helmet is easy. To ensure proper installation and optimal safety, we recommend removing one cheek pad at a time so that the other can serve as a reference.
Removing the cheek pads
  1. First, unfasten the chin strap.
  2. Gently pull the cheek pad forward and out of the helmet.
  3. Next, unfasten the snap button on the side of the strap to completely remove the cheek pad.
Removing the washable cover
  1. Carefully pull the fabric cover off the cheek pad.
  2. Remove the cover completely by gently sliding it off the cheek pad.
  3. Always refer to Arai's maintenance instructions before cleaning.
Reinstalling the cover
  1. Check that the upholstery and the cheek pad are correctly oriented.
  2. Thread the rectangular fastening strip through the opening in the cheek pad.
  3. Pull the cover evenly over the cheek pad and thread the front tab through the larger of the two openings.
  4. Make sure the upholstery fits snugly, without any wrinkles or slack.
Reinstalling the cheek pads
  1. Reinsert the retention strap through the guides in the helmet, with the front tab facing the front of the helmet.
  2. Press the back of the cheek pad firmly until the rear latch clicks into place.
  3. Make sure both cheek pads are securely fastened before using the helmet.
Choose the right thickness for your Arai cheek pads
With the different thicknesses of the Arai cheek pads, you can perfectly adjust the fit of your helmet to your face. All cheek pads have the same shape and attachment method; only the thickness of the internal foam lining varies.
  • Thinner cheek pads (lower mm value) create more space inside the helmet.
  • Thicker cheek pads (higher mm value) ensure a tighter fit.
